We are undergoing a site redesign now that I am graduated from college! Waaahoooo! Also The Peddler’s Tale has undergone a Reboot and let me tell you, it looks fantastic! (not that my professor of advanced drawing strategies liked it or helped at all.) So the site should be fantastic looking soon! We are hoping by the end of the month to be up and running with a new look, and my artwork up as well. I will be on the site pretty much full time so updates should be happening in a timely matter. Until then, it’s under “When it’s done!” schedule.(just like minecraft.)

Learning more stuff!
by emerging_eminence on April 12, 2011 at 12:30 amSo I’ve still been doing a lot of research- type stuff for the Peddler’s Tales, the next short story. There’s a whole lot to figure out since I want to be somewhat historically accurate, but then on the other hand, I’m like “maybe I should just start working on it now…” I am over eager to start it but I already feel like it’s getting bigger and bigger… For instance, it takes place in the 1700′s for part of the time and James and I just randomly picked Eastern Europe. It’s a fascinating time period! The story takes place on the fringe of the Ottoman Empire so there is this great cultural mix between Middle Eastern and Western European style, religion, and culture. And it just so happens that at this time everybody wore these really extravagant patterned, layered clothes. Think Aladdin and then mix in hoop skirts, and Pilgrims and add a lot of decor and you’ve basically got how people dressed back then. And now I have to draw that. Everybody gets multiple patterns on their clothes too and they’re all different so that should be interesting how that all turns out. It will be really hard for me to not give up halfway for all these pages! It’s a big goal but it’s broken down fairly well and I just started putting all the info into Scrivener, so I hope it will turn out for the better and I won’t freak out about it too much >.<
Tomorrow!
by emerging_eminence on February 10, 2011 at 5:12 pmComic tomorrow!
I fought a viscous battle today me vs THE NAP. It kept me down for a while but I emerged victorious and awake. And a little hungry. But that’s beside the point!
Tomorrow will be a comic FOR SURE. and splash pages are in the workings for two stories.
over and out!

just another day dream
by jknicholas on January 26, 2011 at 9:11 amToday as I stood back from my work, stressed and frustrated from a long and arduous day at the office, i took a short break. While I desperately tried to dissuade myself from pondering the awkward and exhausting nature of my job i became distracted by an old man. I would describe this old man no other way than to say he is aged as time strong as rock and stared with eyes that seemed to cast light rather than discover what light has been cast upon. Without introduction and before I could say a word the man began to speak. He said,
“I want to tell you the story of a girl, who sat mighty in stature but stood humbly in time. What I say is simple, and how I describe her is true. Although you would never have guessed it this girl was an icon, someone society adored. She represented more than she ever was and was more than anyone ever knew. Her presence was overlooked by most and unnoticed by the rest of the bustling cityscape she roamed. You may be wondering or wanting to query about some of the strange facts and points I’ve presented so far but I assure you in time the choice phrasing of my words will be made apparent and your questions will pass so long as you take heed and listen to my tale the conclusion will come to you. Lend me your ear, and I will lend you truth. Lend it not, and you will learn many things but none so great as the tale I would tell.” He paused with a sigh. You speak with an elegance when the spoken word is being weighed but abandon all pretense when your expectations are relaxed. Don’t read too much into my tale unless you take a stout heart and deep breath.
Her name was forgotten to her from a young age and so as she grew she sought to learn her past. Desperate for identity she took on the designation Malaya boldly declaring a freedom that she valued deeply but had little to weigh its worthy understanding against.
Quickly snapping back to reality, my eyes twitched as the old man faded leaving behind the strange shape that was my boss asking me if I had run some obscure report yet. stumbling to reorganize my thoughts I went back to the report regretting the loss of what I’m sure would have been an entertaining tail spun by my subconscious. To those who read these random stories of mine, i would like you to know, although I have like 10 different minor story lines going right now, you should know, I am working on – that is to say i have plans to work on a couple full on stories. (novel size). Additionally you should know that most of my really entertaining scenes come from a state of delirium that doesn’t happen all the time. My goal is to have at least one consistently released story line (in the form of the comic INKED) by the end of the year.
Still Alive
by emerging_eminence on December 30, 2010 at 4:41 pmI’ve been working on a larger drawing/ watercolor and a painting recently and with Christmas and everything nothing got posted. My apologies! Tomorrow I am going to scan in some stuff and digitize what I’ve been up to so far. See you tomorrow!
If you haven’t used it yet, you should check it out. I have been a fan of office 2003 for a long time, favoring it over the GUI-ed to death 2007 version, but the functions of 2010 are so glorious they just cant be ignored! As you can clearly find all kinds of great reviews done on this, I’m going to focus my review on some of the simple benefits I see with the software. Namely ONE benefit I was STOKED to find.
So before I dive in Ill point out a few things, there are three versions of 2010, home and student, home and business, and professional. Am I the only one who wants to know why they assume a student would not use outlook? Arguably the best single piece of office software, outlook 2010 has some solid capabilities.
Outlook now offers support of a myriad of awesome features such as texting and
Office 2010 stores the PST files in a different location. In previous locations it was commonly stored in a hidden directory under app data for each user. Which was ok right up until you wanted it to be included in any type of automated back up or mydocument redirect. Simple and sweet the new default location is actually inside the documents library in a folder so cleverly named outlook files. I love the genius of this naming convention btw. So fitting…
alright so because im out of time, ill do this favor and link you to several in depth reviews on this software, and hope that in the future I can get back to breaking down WHY outlooks pst location is so huge…

I have one thing to say about this movie to describe how I feel about it. I know a lot of my friends think I am beating a dead horse with this one and overusing the phrase in relation to this film but…
HereAfter nuked the fridge! It had a very promising storyline and stable premise. The intro pulled you in with a great mix between reality based cinematography and action. without spoiling the best portion of the film ill save you the great details and focus more on the disappointing less redeeming qualities.
The film lasted over two hours. one and a half hours of that was set up! I am normally very ok with build up, and taking your time to develop back story and establish characters and character motive, but the simple fact that they climaxed the movie within the first half and then slowly meandered to a mediocre conclusion was very disappointing. They clearly could have done or said more with the story line they had and at the very least could have concluded something more than hey people die, except this one chick who came back. I would pattern this movie after this: Guy depressed about death, guy depressed about death, kid depressed about death, girl depressed about death, guy who is depressed about seeing death, girl who was dead, guy and girl can both be happy because guy sees dead but now alive girl. So how did I feel walking away from this movie? well fairly neutral actually, im not one to get depressed about a movie like this. I guess the surprising thing to me was the 8.1 scored on IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1212419/
So my case point. They took the most action packed event (the tsunami shown in the trailer) and placed it at the beginning of the movie and ended it with mediocre drama. this is my friends what I classify as nuking the fridge. if you dont know what I am talking about check out this wikipedia (about half way through the article they discuss nuking the fridge http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_shark
I have two more stories in mind that i need to outline when I have time. As I am short on time now but don’t want to forget to do it, I’m posting a “reminder” here.
Story 1:
Master of the 3 paths.
A story about a master warrior who uses three distinct techniques in combination to form an ultimate fighting style. He is on a quest to pass his techniques on to a worthy student who can learn and master all three (Strong – of the single blade, swift – of the double blade, Hidden – of the many hidden blades) While teaching these techniques to his students he has failed 3 times, each time starting the training with a different technique these three students now surpassing his ability in one of the three techniques chase him with malice in their hearts. The story is his struggle to find a student to learn all three while “dealing with his 3 old students” each a master of one of the three ways.
Story 2:
Twin Shadow Ninja
A clan of ninja born from the shadows are master of the technique of shadow walking. Two brothers are born to the clan with split ability, One with the ability to ‘shadow walk’ the other with the curse to only exist in the shadow of his brother. The shadow walker can pass between the shadows as a gateway to the shadow world. The first of the two has an unnatural mastery over this ability while the other is so “overly gifted” that he can not exist or rather can never even leave the shadows. Both lethal in their own right the story is a focus on the struggle inherit in their abilities and the respect afforded to them for it.
